Irish food in Ontario

Irish food for a proper full Irish, in all nine of our shops

Irish-style bacon, bangers, black and white pudding, Irish sausages and soda farls, from Toronto to Ottawa and London.

A full Irish is not complicated. Rashers, bangers, black and white pudding, and soda bread fried in the same pan. The hard part in Ontario has always been finding the pieces.

Every one of our nine shops carries the Brennan’s and Celtic Gourmet Irish range, alongside our own Irish sausages, white pudding and soda farls. The whole plate, in one place.

The Irish range in our shops

Stocked in all nine shops. Ask at the counter if you can’t see what you’re after.

  • Brennan’s and Celtic Gourmet

    Irish-style bacon

Rashers for the fry, the bacon sandwich and the breakfast you meant to make all week.

  • Brennan’s and Celtic Gourmet

    Pork bangers

For a full Irish, bangers and mash, or a sausage sandwich on a Saturday.

  • Brennan’s and Celtic Gourmet

    Cocktail sausages

For sharing plates, party trays and Christmas morning. They never last long.

  • Celtic Gourmet, and our own

    Black pudding

Rich, oaty and spiced, sliced and fried until the edges crisp. Ours is made to the Crawford’s recipe.

  • Celtic Gourmet, and our own

    White pudding

The milder, peppery partner to black pudding, and the slice many Irish families miss most.

  • Our butcher’s counter

    Irish sausages

Mild and gently herbed, with a soft bite. They colour up fast in the pan.

  • From our bakery

    Soda farls and potato scones

Soda farls are the Irish quick bread, split and fried for an Ulster fry or warmed with butter. Our potato scones are the Scottish cousin of Irish potato bread, and just as good in the pan.

Brennan’s and Celtic Gourmet

Same range, new name on the pack

If you have bought Brennan’s Irish Foods before, you will start to see Celtic Gourmet packaging next to it. The Brennan’s range is moving over to the Celtic Gourmet name, so for a while both looks share the shelf.

Nothing about the plate changes. The bacon, bangers and puddings are the ones Irish families in Canada already know.

For more on Celtic Gourmet and the change from Brennan’s, visit Irish Foods Canada.

Good to know

Irish food, answered

At all nine British Pride Bakery shops: Cambridge, Burlington, Hamilton, Niagara Falls, London, Mississauga, Scarborough in Toronto, Kingston and Stittsville near Ottawa. Each carries the Brennan’s and Celtic Gourmet range alongside our own Irish sausages and soda farls.

Yes. The Brennan’s range is moving over to the Celtic Gourmet name and packaging, so for a while you may see both on the shelf. It is the same range, in a new pack.

Black pudding is made with blood, oats and spices, which gives it the dark colour and rich flavour. White pudding leaves out the blood, so it is lighter, milder and peppery. A full Irish usually has a slice of each.

At our Scarborough shop at 65 Rylander Boulevard in Toronto’s east end, and at our Mississauga shop on Financial Drive for the west side of the city.

Our Stittsville shop at 1250 Main Street North, in Ottawa’s west end, carries the Irish range, along with a bakery counter and imported British groceries. Kingston is the other option to the west.

Yes. Bacon, bangers, black and white pudding and soda farls are the pieces most people struggle to find, and they are all in our shops. Add eggs, tomato and beans and you have the whole plate.

Not at all. Bangers make a proper dinner with mash and onion gravy, bacon belongs in a sandwich at any hour, and cocktail sausages have never needed an occasion.
