Our Story
British Pride Bakery was founded in 2010 with one simple goal: to fill a void in the Canadian marketplace for truly authentic British-style baked goods.
When we moved to Canada, there were options available, but nothing that quite delivered the comfort, nostalgia and unmistakable taste of home that a proper sausage roll, steak pie, pasty, or traditional cake should. We weren’t interested in “close enough.” If we were going to do it, it had to be done properly.
Drawing on decades of experience operating award-winning bakeries and food businesses in the UK, we brought the same standards, craftsmanship and pride that made us successful back home to Canada. We invested heavily in research and development, working tirelessly with Canadian ingredients to recreate products as close to their British counterparts as possible. We didn’t settle for good. It had to be right.
As we grew, so did our vision. With long-standing contacts in the UK, we expanded into importing British groceries directly, giving customers access to the chocolate, crisps, biscuits and pantry staples they grew up with, without compromise.
In 2020, we proudly acquired Crawford’s Meats, Canada’s premier producer of traditional Scottish-style meats. With recipes passed down through generations, from black pudding to haggis, we are honoured to carry that legacy forward while continuing to innovate and expand our range.
Today, we are Canada’s largest chain of independently owned British specialty stores, with nine locations across Ontario. We offer one of the largest selections of British baked goods, meats, and imported groceries outside of the UK. Unlike others, we bake what we sell, make our own meats and import directly for ourselves. That independence gives us full control over quality, pricing and selection. This allows us to focus on what matters most: delivering the best possible products to our customers.
Over the years, we’ve been honoured with numerous Diamond Awards and industry recognition. While we’re grateful for every vote of confidence, what matters most to us is the loyalty of our customer base and the response we see every time we open a new store. Growth, repeat visits, and word-of-mouth recommendations tell us more than any trophy ever could.
Everything we do is guided by one principle: if it’s not something we’d proudly serve ourselves, it doesn’t make it to the shelf.

WE MIGHT BE A BRITISH BAKERY IN CANADA, BUT WE HAVE A LARGER RANGE OF PRODUCTS THAN MOST BAKERIES HAVE IN THE UK!
OUR BREADS ARE AS TRADITIONAL AS THEY COME! LIGHT, AIRY AND WE EVEN DELIBERATELY BURN SOME OF OUR BREADS!
WE CHANGED THE IMPORT GAME IN 2020 WHEN WE BECAME AN INDEPENDENT IMPORTER. CUTTING OUT THE SUPPLIERS WHO WERE MAKING HUGE MARGINS ON IMPORTED FOODS, WE ENSURED PRICES HAD TO FALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY. OUR COMMITMENT TO GREAT PRICING AND SELECTION WILL NEVER CHANGE.
