Before there were nine shops, there was one. British Pride Bakery opened in Cambridge in 2010 — one family determined to prove that proper British baking could thrive a long way from home. Sixteen years on, our Struck Court shop is still the heart of the business: part bakery, part butchery, part imported grocer, and entirely the place where it all began.
Cambridge is where our recipes were first perfected, and where they are still held to account. This is our production home — the head office of the family, if you like — where pastry is rolled for steak and kidney pies, where sausage rolls come out of the oven in waves through the morning, and where scones, bloomers and teacakes are baked the unhurried way. When people across Ontario talk about a British Pride pie, chances are its story started here.
The butcher’s counter carries the tradition through: proper bangers, back bacon, black pudding and haggis, prepared with the same care our baking gets. Around it, the shelves read like a letter from home — teas, biscuits, crisps, sweets and tinned favourites imported from across the UK. It’s the sort of shop that earns its regulars, and more than a thousand five-star reviews and a shelf of awards later, we still think Cambridge is the best place we could have started.
Set on Struck Court in Cambridge, the shop is easy to reach by car with parking on site, making it a simple stop whether you’re doing the weekly shop or picking up a few pies on the way home. It’s a straightforward drive for anyone in Cambridge and the surrounding Waterloo Region.
