  • Multi-award-winning
  • 1,200+ five-star reviews
  • Nine Ontario shops
  • 16+ years serving Ontario communities

There’s a moment, just inside the door of our London shop, when the scent of warm pastry does the remembering for you. Steak and ale pies in proper shortcrust. Sausage rolls that flake down your jumper if you can’t wait for the car. Scotch eggs, custard tarts, scones waiting patiently for jam and cream. London has always had an easy affection for the old country, and after sixteen-odd years of feeding homesick Brits and curious Canadians across Ontario, we like to think we’ve earned a small place in that affection.

The bakery counter is only half the story. Our butchery carries the craft of the family’s Crawford’s legacy — bangers made the way they should be, back bacon cut properly, black pudding and haggis for those who know exactly what they’re after. Around it, the grocery shelves do the rest: proper tea, biscuits by the tinful, crisps you won’t find at the supermarket, HP Sauce, and chocolate that tastes the way you remember it tasting.

We’re a family business through and through — nine shops across Ontario, more than sixteen years since our first counter opened in Cambridge in 2010, over a thousand five-star reviews, and a shelf of awards we’re quietly proud of. The London shop carries all of that history and adds its own: birthdays marked with proper cakes, freezers filled before winter, and first-time visitors who come in for a sausage roll and leave with a story.

Our London shop sits on Exeter Road, easy to reach whether you are running errands across the south end or making a special trip from further out in the city. There is parking on site, so it is a simple in-and-out for a pie run or a proper browse of the grocery shelves.

Worth the drive

Loved well beyond London’s city limits

A good pie is worth a drive, and plenty of people prove it every week. They come up from St Thomas, where railway history runs deep and appetites run decidedly British; in from Strathroy with coolers ready for bangers, back bacon and a month’s worth of steak and ale pies; and over from Komoka and Ilderton, close enough that a Saturday sausage-roll run barely counts as a trip at all.

East of the city, Dorchester and Ingersoll send their share of regulars too — families stocking up on scones and imported groceries, expats after black pudding and a proper cup of tea, and, come January, anyone hunting haggis for Burns Night. Whether it’s a monthly pilgrimage or a quick stop for something warm from the counter, the journey home tends to end the same way: boot loaded, car smelling gloriously of pastry.

A taste of what’s in store in London

Scone

Soda Scones

The soft farl at the heart of the fry.

A traditional Irish soda scone, also known as soda bread or a farl, raised with baking soda rather than yeast for a soft, close crumb. Split and fried in the pan, it’s a cornerstone of the Ulster fry and a lovely thing warm with butter. Simple, rustic and made the way it should be.

What it is: A soda scone, or farl, is a soft Irish quick bread leavened with baking soda instead of yeast, often fried and served as part of a cooked breakfast.

London — your questions

Right here — British Pride Bakery’s London shop is a family-run British bakery, butchery and grocer. You’ll find handmade meat pies, sausage rolls and fresh baking alongside a proper butchery counter and shelves of imported British groceries.

We do. Our butchery tradition — carried forward from the family’s Crawford’s legacy — means proper haggis and black pudding are part of the range, not an afterthought. Haggis is especially popular around Burns Night in January, so it pays to come early.

Our London shop is a short drive from both, and many of our regulars make the trip from St Thomas, Strathroy and the surrounding countryside. The grocery shelves carry imported biscuits, crisps, chocolate, teas and sauces you won’t find at an ordinary supermarket.

Yes — our pies and sausage rolls are made by our own bakers, the way they’ve been made across our shops for more than sixteen years. Most people take a few warm from the counter and a few more for the freezer at home.

We do, in their proper seasons — mince pies and Christmas puddings as the holidays approach, hot cross buns around Easter, and haggis for Burns Night. Seasonal favourites tend to go quickly, so ask in the shop about what’s coming and when.

If you run a café, pub or food business in the London area and would like to stock British Pride favourites, get in touch with the shop directly — wholesale enquiries are always welcome.

Current opening hours are shown on this page and on the store’s Google listing, which is the best place to check for holiday hours and any changes.
